Anh Hoàng Thắng – Humans of Maha

From starting as a kitchen assistant at the Retreat Center to becoming Sous Chef at Bếp Mani Kitchen, nearly seven years with Maha Mangala have become an important part of Anh Hoàng Thắng’s journey of growth. It has been more than a journey of learning a profession; it has also been a journey of learning contentment, gratitude, and the art of slowing down amidst life’s simple moments.

Anh Hoàng Thắng – One of the People Behind Bếp Mani Kitchen

If you have ever shared a meal at Bếp Mani Kitchen, you may have enjoyed carefully prepared dishes without knowing much about the people quietly working behind the kitchen.

At Maha Mangala, each day in Bếp Mani Kitchen is shaped by many small acts of care: selecting ingredients, preparing food, keeping the kitchen clean, and thoughtfully preparing each meal for our guests and friends.

Anh Hoàng Thắng is one of the people who has devoted many years of his youth to this work.

He rarely appears in the spotlight. Instead, he chooses to be present through the work he does – quietly, consistently, and wholeheartedly.

Beginning with the Simplest Tasks at the Retreat Center

Anh Thắng came to Maha Mangala when he was just twenty years old.

At that time, he was simply looking for a job that would allow him to stand on his own. His first days at the Retreat Center began with the simplest of tasks: washing and preparing vegetables, preparing ingredients, cleaning the kitchen, and assisting the senior members of the team.

There was nothing extraordinary about that beginning. Yet those small tasks opened the door to nearly seven years of companionship with Maha Mangala.

Step by step, he learned from the kitchen, from those who came before him, and from the experiences of everyday life.

Perhaps when he first began, he could not have imagined that this small kitchen would become a place where he would spend the formative years of his youth and grow into the person he is today.

From Kitchen Assistant to Sous Chef at Bếp Mani Kitchen

Throughout his journey at Bếp Mani Kitchen, Anh Thắng gradually grew in his culinary skills and responsibilities.

Starting as a kitchen assistant, he gradually took on greater responsibilities and became Sous Chef, working alongside the Bếp Mani Kitchen team to prepare wholesome and nourishing meals for our guests and friends.

To him, a good meal is about more than culinary technique.

It also comes from respecting every ingredient, maintaining cleanliness and care in the kitchen, and preparing each dish with a mindful and caring spirit.

What may seem like small details have, over time, become an integral part of the way he approaches his work.

Bếp Mani Kitchen and the Lessons of Life

Nearly seven years at Maha Mangala have not only helped he grow in his work in the kitchen.

They have also been a time of transformation in the way he sees life.

He has learned to be content with what he has, to complain less, and to appreciate more deeply the things already present in his life.

These lessons did not come from anything grand. They were cultivated through the everyday rhythm of working, living, and caring for the Retreat Center together with others.

Sometimes, what begins as simply a job gradually becomes a part of the way we live.

The Bell – A Moment of Peace He Holds Dear

Among his many experiences at Maha Mangala, one of the things he cherishes most is ringing the bell each day.

For him, the bell is more than a familiar sound within the peaceful space of the Retreat Center.

It is a moment that allows him to slow down, quiet his mind, and experience a sense of peace that belongs entirely to him.

Amid the rhythm of everyday responsibilities, moments like these became a way for him to return to himself.

Gratitude for Those Who Have Walked Alongside Him

When reflecting on his years at Maha Mangala, Anh Thắng holds deep gratitude for Master, Madame, Chef Trọng, and all the brothers and sisters at Bếp Mani Kitchen.

Their guidance in his work, the lessons they shared about life, and the care they showed one another are among the things he carries with him on his journey.

For him, Bếp Mani Kitchen has never been simply a workplace.

It has also been a place where people work together, care for one another, and create the warmth and closeness of a family.

Those relationships have played an important part in shaping the person Anh Thắng is today.

Closing a Nearly Seven-Year Journey at Maha Mangala

As he enters his 30th year, Anh Thắng is also closing a nearly seven-year chapter with Maha Mangala and beginning a new journey.

A journey of returning to his family, preparing to welcome his first child, and being more fully present for the people he loves.

There comes a time in every person’s life when one chapter comes to an end and another begins.

For Anh Thắng, his years at Maha Mangala will perhaps always remain a beautiful part of his youth – a place where he worked, learned, grew, and discovered values he wishes to carry with him into the years ahead.

Maha Mangala Cherishes Anh Hoàng Thắng’s Journey

Maha Mangala holds deep gratitude for the years Anh Hoàng Thắng devoted to Bếp Mani Kitchen, to every meal, and to the guests and friends he cared for with his own hands.

From the simplest tasks in the kitchen, he gradually grew – not only in his profession, but also in the way he lives.

May he walk steadily into this new chapter, carrying with him filial devotion, gratitude, contentment, and the goodness nurtured throughout his years of youth at Maha Mangala.

Until we meet again, on a peaceful day at Maha. 🌿
